Avangardco poultry flock, egg volume up in November

Avangardco Investments Public Limited, a producer of shell eggs and egg products in Ukraine and Eurasia, saw its total poultry flock grow by 12.9 percent year-on-year in November 2012 and its shell egg production increase by 3 percent, according to the company's latest report.
The poultry flock came to 28 million on November 30, 2012, compared to 24.8 million at the same time in 2011. Laying hens increased by 12.5 percent year-on-year to 22.5 million compared to 20 million in 2011, according to the company.
Shell egg volume hit 527 million units, up from 2011's 510 million units, as a result of the growth in the population of laying hens, said Avangardco. During November 2012 there was a moderate increase in sales of packaged eggs under the umbrella brand Kvochka with a 29 percent increase in sales, compared to October 2012, and of Kvochka Domashni, a middle segment brand, due to the increase in the company’s share of sales in the Kiev region, the region with the highest purchasing power of population in Ukraine.
    Exports
On December 4, 2012, the European Commission’s Directorate General for Health and Consumers added Ukraine to the list of non-EU countries which are allowed to export poultry products to the EU. Following the conclusion of final agreements, Avangardco hopes to be among the first Ukrainian producers to start the supply of its poultry products into the European market. Several facilities of the company have already been certified and passed all the necessary quality and veterinary checks.
Avangardco considers the EU market to be one of its priority export markets as it aims to diversify its sales channels.
