Cherkizovo introduces new line of ready-to-cook chicken products

Russian meat and poultry company Cherkizovo Group has launched unique line of ready-to-cook chilled chicken products that can be prepared in a steamer or slow cooker. The new products, under Cherkizovo’s Petelinka brand, are designed for consumers who prefer healthy food and natural taste.
Consumers can choose from a wide range of healthy meals prepared from chilled poultry meat, including chicken patties, chicken patties with cheese and spinach, chicken croquettes with tomatoes or cheese, chicken rissoles, chicken patties with broccoli, fillets with vegetables, and chicken meatballs with tomatoes and cheese.
Each product perfectly combines three components: Cherkizovo’s traditional quality, a balanced mix of products without high-fat, high-calorie ingredients, and low salt content. Steamed chilled chicken meals turn out juicy and really appetizing. They retain most water-soluble minerals and vitamins, preserve the flavor of fresh products, and capture the true original taste, the company stated.
In commenting on the launch of the new Petelinka product line, Alexander Kostikov, head of communications of Cherkizovo Group, said: “We always aim to make products that are both delicious and as healthy as possible for the consumer. Ready-to-cook poultry weight drops from February 2012

Ready-to-cook poultry weight during February totaled 3.39 billion pounds, down 2 percent from the amount certified in February 2012, according to the March 25 Poultry Slaughter report released by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's National Agricultural Statistics Service.
The January revised certified total climbed 6 percent to 3.85 billion pounds, an increase of 1.46 million pounds from December 2012's preliminary pounds certified.
The preliminary total live weight of all federally inspected poultry during February eased 2 percent to 4.49 billion pounds from 4.59 billion pounds in 2012. Young chickens inspected totaled 3.84 billion pounds, down 2 percent from the year-ago period. Mature chickens declined 2 percent from 2012 to 59.6 million pounds. Turkey inspections totaled 578 million pounds, down 1 percent from 2012 numbers. Ducks slipped a percent to 13.3 million pounds.
Young chickens slaughtered during February averaged 5.91 pounds per bird, up 1 percent from 2012, according to the report. The average live weight of mature chickens declined 3 percent to 5.38 pounds per bird. Turkeys slaughtered during February averaged 31.2 pounds per bird, up 1 percent from 2012 numbers.
Ante-mortem condemnations during February totaled 9.95 million pounds. Condemnations were 0.22 percent of the live weight inspected, compared to 0.21 percent in 2012. Post-mortem condemnations, at 36.5 million pounds, were 1.07 percent of quantities inspected compared to 0.98 percent in 2012.

Poultry slaughter report shows ready-to-cook weight down from 2011

Poultry certified wholesome’s ready-to-cook weight during December 2012 totaled 3.34 billion pounds, down 1 percent from the amount certified in December 2011, according to the Poultry Slaughter report released January 23 by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and National Agricultural Statistics Service.
The November 2012 revised certified total at 3.57 billion pounds was up 3 percent from November 2011. The November revision represented an increase of 1.96 million pounds from last month’s preliminary pounds certified.
The preliminary total live weight of all federally inspected poultry during December 2012 was 4.42 billion pounds, down 1 percent from 4.46 billion pounds a year ago. Young chickens inspected totaled 3.80 billion pounds, down slightly from December 2011. Mature chickens, at 59.1 million pounds, were down 9 percent from the previous year.
Young chickens slaughtered during December 2012 averaged 5.91 pounds per bird, up 2 percent from December from a year ago. The average live weight for mature chickens was 5.07 pounds per bird, down 9 percent from a year ago.
Ante-mortem condemnations during December 2012 totaled 0.35 million pounds. Condemnations were 0.21 percent of the live-weight inspected, equal to that of last year. Post-mortem condemnations, at 32.1 million pounds were 0.95 percent of quantities inspected, again equal to that of last year.
Turkey inspections totaled 550 million pounds, down 4 percent from a year ago. Ducks totaled 14.4 million pounds, down 5 percent from last year.
Turkeys slaughtered during December 2012 averaged 30.8 pounds per bird, up 2 percent from December 2011.

US poultry ready-to-cook weights up in November over 2011

U.S. poultry certified wholesome during November (ready-to-cook weight) totaled 3.57 billion pounds, up 3 percent from the amount certified in November 2011, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's latest report.
The October revised certified total, at 3.97 billion pounds, was up 8 percent from October 2011. The October revision represented an increase of 198,000 pounds from the preliminary pounds certified.
The preliminary total live weight of all federally inspected poultry during November was 4.73 billion pounds, up 3 percent from 4.6 billion pounds in 2011, according to the USDA. Young chickens inspected totaled 4.01 billion pounds, up 3 percent from November 2011. Mature chickens, at 59.3 million pounds, were down 5 percent from 2011 numbers. Turkey inspections totaled 642 million pounds, up slightly from 2011, and ducks totaled 14.1 million pounds, down 1 percent.
Young chickens slaughtered during November averaged 5.95 pounds per bird, up 2 percent from November 2011. The average live weight of mature chickens was 5.73 pounds per bird, up slightly from 2011 numbers, according to the USDA, and turkeys slaughtered averaged 28.9 pounds per bird, up 3 percent.
