Russia poultry output increases 17 percent in January

    Russia's poultry and poultry byproduct output increased 17 percent in January, to 262,000 metric tons, compared with the same time in 2011, according to the country's Federal State Statistics Service. The country's output of poultry and cattle in live weight increased 11 percent, to 545,300 metric tons. Pig meat production also increased, by 14 percent, to 61,600 metric tons, while beef output dropped 3.2 percent to 12,100 metric tons for January compared with 2011 numbers. Production of all meats and byproducts, excluding poultry, rose 6.9 percent to 87,800 metric tons.
