US poultry export forecasts gain $250 million in 2012

U.S. poultry product export forecasts have gained $250 million for fiscal year 2012 on higher sales of both broiler meat and other poultry products, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture Foreign Agricultural Service's latest report.
The upward revision is part of an overall growth in the U.S. agricultural export forecast of $3.5 billion, bringing total fiscal 2012 agricultural exports to $134.5 billion. Poultry and products are expected to account for $6.1 billion of that number, with broiler meat taking up $3.9 billion of that. The forecast for poultry, livestock and dairy is up $400 million total to $29.6 billion on increased exports of poultry, dairy, pig meat and variety meats. Exports to the top three markets, Mexico, Canada and China, have all been raised.
