Studies by the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA), an organization recently formed by the merger of Ubabef and ABIPECS, show that Brazilian exports of chicken meat increased 0.7 percent in volume in the first three months of 2014 , with a total of 907.300 tons shipped. Income decreased 11.5 percent to reach US$1.705 billion between January and March 2014.
When considering only the monthly shipments, exports fell 0.5 percent in March this year, with 318.100 tons. There was also a reduction in income, 16.1 percent to US$595.7 million in the period.
According to CEO ABPA Turra Francisco, the rise in chicken meat exports from Brazil will intensify after international events scheduled for this year in Brazil.
"The market is expected behavior for the first quarter, expanding domestic demand and a small rise in exports. Besides, traditionally shipments in the second half have a superior performance to that performed in the first six months of the year," he said.
