The International Feed Industry Federation (IFIF) joined key Southeast Asian feed associations at the Victam International ASEAN Feed Summit to discuss critical feed safety, security and sustainability issues facing the region in 2015 and beyond.
This first of its kind ASEAN Feed Summit, organized by Victam International, chaired by Pornsil Patchrintanakul, president of the Thai Feed Mill Association, and moderated by Alexandra de Athayde, IFIF executive director, brought together senior feed regulators and industry representatives from Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.
Mario Sergio Cutait, IFIF chairman, welcomed “the opportunity to join this important summit and to work towards closer collaboration in Asia.” He congratulated participants on their strong efforts to ensure safe feed and food in their countries and added “that only by working together at regional and global level with all stakeholders on the agri chain can we continue to ensure feed and food safety, while meeting the global demands for 60 percent more food by 2050 safely and sustainably.”
During the discussion, several issues were identified for further potential cooperation, including capacity development for feed safety, efforts toward regulatory harmonization, and the need to work with all stakeholders on agri-food chain on common challenges.
