Highest 'Employee Safety' honors go to nine Foster Farms facilities

Nine Foster Farms facilities in five states earned the highest level of achievement for employee safety. The company received Awards of Distinction from the Joint Industry Safety and Health Council during the 2015 National Safety Conference for the Poultry Industry held last week in Myrtle Beach, SC.
The Joint Industry Safety and Health Council recognized Foster Farms facilities for outstanding safety performance through the implementation of innovative employee safety and health programs. The awards were based on each facility’s injury statistics over three years and an evaluation of written applications. The Award of Distinction is the highest level of recognition for the program.
The following Foster Farms facilities earned Awards of Distinction:
  • Demopolis, AL – Corndog Plant
  • Emmett, AR – Feed Mill
  • Turlock, CA – Cooked Chicken
  • Turlock, CA – Processing
  • Fresno, CA – Processing
  • Delta, CO – Feed Mill
  • Athens, LA – Hatchery
  • Farmerville, LA – Cooked Chicken
  • Farmerville, LA – Processing
“We are dedicated to maintaining a safe working environment for our employees,” said James Ferrell, corporate manager of risk. “The conditions to qualify for this distinction were even more rigorous this year, and we are proud to be recognized as leading our industry in employee safety. We are grateful to our employees who work hard to improve safety at each facility.” Foster Farms employs more than 12,000 employees nationwide.
According to the National Chicken Council, illness and injury rates industry wide have decreased 80 percent since 1994.
