The performance of the Brazilian chicken meat exports in September led the Brazilian Union of Chicken Meat Producers and Exporters (Ubabef) to revise upward the exports for 2010.
According to Ubabef, the recovery of international consumption levels and the good performance of the Brazilian exports to date were determinant in the upward revise of the exported volume for 2010, which must be 5% to 7% higher than 2009, from an original growth forecast of 3% to 5%. The entity estimates the exports will reach 3.8 million tons and US$ 6.8 billion revenue.
In last September the chicken meat shipments grew 16.5%, to 337.8 thousand tons, over 289.9 thousand tons in the same month of last year. The revenue reached US$ 591.7 million, 20.4% higher than the US$ 491.4 revenue obtained a year before.
In the year, the Brazilian chicken meat exports - 2.851 million tons - accounts for a 5% increase by volume and a 17.16% by value - US$ 4.963 billion - over the same period of 2009 - 2.715 million tons and US$ 4.236 billion revenue, respectively.
