A bird flu alert has been issued in the Indian state of Odisha following the detection of two bird flu-positive cases in one of the state's districts, according to reports.
Odisha's government sent 370 poultry, duck and crow blood samples to the High Security Animal Disease Laboratory in Bhopal, and two of the samples tested positive for the H5N1 virus. Movement of birds from the affected area has been stopped, and district administration is keeping watch on all poultry farms in the area while teams of veterinary doctors test each farm, according to Collector of Khordha Rupa Mishra.
Health of all birds in the district is being monitored, and officials at a local wildlife sanctuary have been told to keep watch on migratory birds.
