A June 2 electrical fire has left a Tyson Foods poultry plant in Green Forest, Arkansas, running at less than full production. No injuries have been reported.
Workers at the plant were immediately evacuated when the fire was discovered. Portions of the plant were closed as emergency responders battled the fire and cleared smoke from the facility.
The second and third shifts on June 2 were cancelled because electrical service to the facility had been disrupted. Tyson Foods spokesman Worth Sparkman said the morning after the fire that power to the plant had not yet been fully restored, but portions of the plant involving fully cooked products and packaging resumed production. Sparkman said the company hopes to resume regular operations on or before June 4.
