Koch Foods ammonia leak prompts evacuation; 4 workers treated

A Koch Foods poultry plant in Gainesville, Georgia, was evacuated around 8:30 a.m. on June 9 after an ammonia leak was reported. The cause of the leak remains unknown.
Fourteen workers at the Koch Foods poultry plant complained of exposure to ammonia, four of which were treated at a nearby hospital.
Firefighters responded to the report of the leak, but according to AccessNorthGa.com, Koch Foods employees had the leak under control by the time they arrived. After firefighters put fans inside to ventilate the plant, workers were able to return inside. Emergency personnel remained on the scene for about an hour.
