George, who joined the family poultry business in 1946 after a two-year stint in the Navy, was 88. He became president and CEO of the company in 1969 after the deaths of both his brother and father, and served in that position until 1980. He then became chairman of the board, a position in which he served until his death.
George is survived by his wife, Virginia; two children, Cathy Evans and Gary George; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
