California-based Zacky Farms LLC will invest in a poultry farm in Antigua, creating much-needed jobs on the
island, according to Antigua & Barbuda's economy minister, Harold
Lovell.
Although talks for the farm are in the preliminary stages, construction is expected to begin by the end of 2012. “This will be designed for export,” said Lovell. “With this poultry farm, we will begin to produce our own chicken and we will be able to export for the Caribbean."
This latest project, said Lovell, demonstrates the country's commitment to overriding economic difficulties and providing jobs for its citizens. “If we are to provide jobs for our people, we need to make sure that we have the investment," he said. "I can tell you that we are doing everything to move investments locally forward and to bring foreign investments to this country."
