The Council on Food, Agriculture and Resource Economics will release a series of papers from leading economists aimed at informing the policy discussion and elevating the importance of conservation as a major economic issue in the 2012 Farm Bill and beyond.
The papers, part of "The Conservation Crossroads in Agriculture" series, will tackle four key areas of concern, including:
• Designing maximum benefit, cost-efficient conservation programs;
• Economic and environmental implications of reducing the Conservation Reserve Program (CRP);
• The impact of crop insurance subsidies on conservation choices and land use; and
• Examining the relationship of the changing federal incentive structure for the Conservation Compliance programs and the future impact of the program.
