Companies, organizations and countries around the globe are celebrating World Egg Day on October 12 with various events designed to support egg producers and promote egg consumption.
Novus International Inc. has partnered with egg industry associations in Africa for the third consecutive year to support World Egg Day celebrations. Numerous events are being held throughout the continent to promote the nutritional benefits of eggs and raise the public awareness of the importance eggs play in a nutritious and healthy diet, according to the company. In western Africa, several states within Nigeria will be hosting events at schools. In eastern Africa, two-day educational and entertainment events are being held, and in southern Africa, educational presentations will be made on radio and television.
The day was also recognized at the Biomin World Nutrition Forum in Singapore, where the world's egg producers were recognized during breakfast.
World Egg Day is promoted by the International Egg Commission to raise global awareness about the role of eggs in people’s diets. The commission cooperates with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations on nutrition security and on improving the environmental performance of the egg industry.
