A South Korean pig rearing farm that had four cases of classical swine fever is now free of the disease, the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) reported on December 10. OIE initially reported the South Korean swine fever outbreak on November 28.
Four animals at a pig farm were confirmed to have swine fever in South Korea, but no deaths were reported as a result of swine fever. An additional 296 pigs were susceptible. All 300 of the animals were destroyed.
After control measures including stamping out, quarantine, movement control within the country, screening, vaccination and disinfection of the property, the farm is now declared free of swine fever, the OIE reported.
