GNP Company and Just Bare Chicken have announced the third-annual
Just Bare Chicken +5 Ingredient Challenge that's built on the brand's philosophy of "less really is more - in cooking and in life." The challenge gives consumers chances to win prizes that total more than $13,000 for simply choosing a favorite Just Bare Chicken product and five ingredients or voting on simple, delicious chicken recipes created from the ingredient lists submitted as part of the challenge. The focus on simplicity is central to Just BARE, a brand of nothing but all natural chicken that offers no antibiotics, added hormones or additives, but grain and vegetable fed and third-party certification from the American Humane Certified Farm Program.
"Cooking with a 'less is more' philosophy is about more than a chicken recipe with just a few ingredients. It's about celebrating simplicity and well-being in the kitchen. We are encouraging home chefs to think healthy, be surprising and get inspired from one another," said Julie Berling, director of brand advocacy for Just Bare.
The first phase of the Just Bare Chicken +5 Ingredient Challenge encourages consumers to visit the Just Bare website from January 14 through February 28 to choose a favorite Just Bare chicken product, pick five ingredients, and select a recipe category. All consumer-submitted ingredient lists will first be screened by Just Bare lead culinary enthusiast, Lisa Golden Schroeder, on whether the ingredients are viable for the type of recipe category designated by the submitter, and then assessed on their uniqueness, wholesomeness and availability.
The top-scoring lists will then pass onto a specially selected panel of national food bloggers, who will compete against one another by transforming 15 of the top ingredient lists into new, fully developed chicken recipes that Schroeder will judge. The five expert food bloggers on the recipe development panel are Chung-Ah Rhee of Damn Delicious, Rachel Gurk of Rachel Cooks, Tessa Arias of Handle the Heat, Monique Volz of Ambitious Kitchen and Cassie Laemmli of Bake Your Day. Only 10 of the 15 recipes will move onto online, public voting.
Consumers' second chance to participate in the Just Bare Chicken +5 Ingredient Challenge will be from April 15 - May 5, 2014 when the top 10 recipes developed by the blogger panel will be posted on the Just BARE Facebook page for popular vote. Participating Facebook page voters will have the chance to win one of five sweepstakes prizes worth $250 each. The 10 consumers who developed ingredient lists that turned into the top 10 finalist recipes will each win $500 in cash, as well.
Finally, five of the 10 finalist recipes receiving the highest overall combined points for culinary score and online popular vote will become grand prize winners. Five grand prize packages, worth an average retail value of $1,500, will be awarded. Each will consist of one $1,000 gift card for Food52 and Provisions merchandise, one Food52 cookbook, one year subscription to Eating Well magazine, and one year's worth of Just Bare product coupons.
The entry form for submitting Chicken +5 ingredient lists is now active. Consumers are limited to one entry per 24-hour day.
