A swine dysentery outbreak has been reported in Yorkshire, UK. Control measures are in place, and BPEX is working to establish exactly which strains are involved to help with control of swine dysentery.
The disease is known to spread rapidly, particularly in cold weather. Swine dysentery can cause deteriorating health and eventually a loss of stock. Clinical signs affecting growing and finishing pigs include bloody diarrhea.
Producers affected are members of the Swine Dysentery Producers Charter. Anybody who would like to join the charter can contact BPEX.
