Foster Farms facility evacuated after fire is reported

A fire broke out around 10 a.m. on January 13 at a Foster Farms further processing plant in Porterville, Calif., prompting an evacuation. However, no injuries were reported.
The Porterville Fire Department responded to reports of flames going through the roof at the Foster Farms plant, but upon arrival, realized that it was actually smoke coming through the vents on the roof. The fire was contained to a room used to heat oil for cooking.
Ira Brill, Foster Farms director of corporate communications, told the Porterville Recorder the gas lines to the facility were shut off and were to be turned on once everything is cleared by the fire department. The full impact of the Foster Farms fire to the company's production or operations is not known.
The exact cause of the fire at Foster Farms' facility in Porterville is under investigation.
