The volume of Brazil’s poultry meat exports grew by 3.7 percent in April 2014 to reach 352,100 metric tons – a record for the month. By value, however, there was a fall of 9.9 percent to stand at US$694.3 million, reports the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA).
Over the first four months of 2014, volumes remained positive. Nearly 1.259 million metric tons of poultry meat were shipped between January and April this year - 1.5 percent higher than over the same period in 2013. By value, however, there was a decrease of 11 percent to stand at US$2.399 billion.
“This historic result confirms the moderate growth in international trade predicted by ABPA for this year,” said Francisco Turra, ABPA president.
