Bird flu detected in Bulgaria

The European Union has identified its first case of avian influenza in a year, according to the Associated Press.
The discovery was made in Bulgaria, where a dead buzzard tested positive for H5N1 influenza. No cases have been identified in Bulgaria’s domestic poultry, but the government warned farmers to protect their flocks from contact with wild birds that could carry the disease.
