Facility Certification Institute addresses new FDA legislation

The Facility Certification Institute completed its winter Board of Directors meeting in early February 2011. The recently enacted legislation providing the FDA with additional mandates and powers was the major topic of discussion.
“FCI is dedicated to working with the feed industry to provide auditing services for all programs related to the manufacture of feed. As the industry moves forward, we are committed to meeting the requirements of this new legislation and providing safe food to the public,” stated FCI Chairman Richard Severson.
The FCI provides feed and food safety programs and audit services for the feed industry. The organization was founded in 2001 as a non-profit to provide third-party certification services with specific reference to the BSE Feed Rule. The FCI offers auditing services and certification of producers of spray dried plasma products, and is responsible for the American Feed Industry Association, Safe Feed/Safe Food Certification Program.
