The first Chinese animal feed mill has been built in Cambodia, a joint effort between China's New Hope Group and Japan's animal feed Sojitz Corporation.
The Sichuan New Hope Agribusiness (Cambodia) will be able to produce roughly 57,000 tons of animal feed per year, adding to the country's current production capabilities of 170,000 tons per year. Cambodia's current demand is about 700,000 tons annually, and China is the country's largest investor. "The mill has been equipped with sophisticated technologies and is capable to produce a good quality of animal food for pigs and poultry," said Deng Xiaohua, a manager of New Hope Group.
The new mill will employ 100 Cambodian workers.
