A new strain of H5N1 found in China and Vietnam has Philippines poultry exporters considering those countries' markets as possibilities, according to reports.
“We can tap China and Vietnam as possible markets for our exportable chicken since they cannot rely on their own production anymore," said Philippines Agriculture Assistant Secretary Salvador Salacup. The Philippines is 93% sufficient in poultry production, according to Salacup, and the country has a standing ban on Vietnamese poultry imports.
