Egg producer Richard Simpson dies


    Richard Simpson, of Simpson's Egg Farm, was killed in an automobile accident in his hometown of Monroe, N.C., January 31, 2013. Simpson was 62 years old.
    His generosity and kindness was felt by all who knew him. He was president of Simpson's Egg Farm, a fourth-generation family owned business founded by his grandfather in 1925.
    Additionally, Richard served in many agriculture-related and civic organizations; he was past president of the American Egg Board, president of the North Carolina Egg Association, and a board member of United Egg Producers.
