JBS USA intends to complete the purchase of two XL Foods beef packing plants in the United States on April
8.
Once the deal is
completed, JBS USA will take ownership of a beef packing
plant in Omaha, Neb., that can process 1,100 head of cattle per day, and another
plant in Nampa, Idaho, that is currently idle. The company said on April 4 that
it has no immediate plans to reopen the Idaho facility.
The Nebraska and Idaho plants are part of an agreement where
JBS Food Canada purchased XL properties in Brooks and Calgaray, Alberta. JBS
completed the acquisition of the Canadian properties in January.
