Poultry breeding company updates facilities

Aviagen Anadolu, a poultry breeding company, has invested in several new facilities to make a long term commitment to be a prominent poultry supplier in the Turkey. The company has been in the Turkish poultry market for the last 12 years and supported the June 13-15 VIV Exhibition in Istanbul by participating with one of the major display stands and the full support and attendance of the company's commercial and technical team.
The wholly-owned company started 2013 with a new name, Aviagen Anadolu and highlighted several key developments in the growth and anticipated expansion of the local poultry market. Late in 2012, Aviagen Anadolu acquired two imported parent stock delivery trucks, each with the capacity of 46,000 day old chicks. A new parent stock hatchery located in Elmadag, Anatolia began to deliver a major share of the chicks required to supply the Turkish market and together with the existing hatchery at Kalecik, Aviagen Anadolu has the capacity to produce 10.5 million day old parent chicks annually.
Aviagen Anadolu has invested in a 10 ton per hour stand-alone feed decontamination unit. Project construction started in June and will be completed in December ready for operation in February next year. The company will commence a new grandparent farm with capacity for 35,000 birds in July for initial placement in March 2014. Work on a new a new state of the art laboratory, which has become the first laboratory to be accredited by the Turkish authorities and awarded the ISO/IEC 17025 international standard, began construction in June and is scheduled for operation at the end of August 2013.
The exhibition provided an opportunity to highlight the genetic progress from the Aviagen research and development breeding program and demonstrate the company's existing and future plans to maintain the Ross 308 breed of broilers. Many of the domestic customers were represented along with a strong attendance by several companies from the neighboring markets in the Middle East.
"VIV Turkey was well attended, particularly by the Middle East countries where Aviagen Brands hold a high market share. It was a good opportunity to see our Arbor Acres, Indian River and Ross distributors and their customers to discuss their plans for growth and learn how well our branded products are performing especially the improvement in feed conversion rate which make them the most feed efficient breeds in the region," said Michael Garden, Aviagen Business Manager for Turkey, Middle East, Africa.
"Every two years we apply the resources to send a clear message to our customers and to show how important it is for our company to support the industry we are a part of now and in the future," said Stephen Jones, General Manager Aviagen Anadolu. "We believe success in Turkey has always been based on the supply of local product, quality and the availability of local technical service expertise that understands the language, market and the customers."
