The Richard A. Henson Family YMCA in Salisbury, Md., has received a $150,000 endowment from Perdue Farms' Arthur W. Perdue Foundation. Leaders from Perdue Farms presented a check to the Richard A. Henson Family YMCA, which will use the funds toward a multi-million dollar renovation that includes a state-of-the art wellness area.
The YMCA's wellness area will be named in honor of the late Frank Perdue, former chairman of Perdue Farms.
"The YMCA is about strengthening community, and that mirrors one of Frank's highest values," said Mitzi Perdue, widow of Frank Perdue. "He would have been so pleased and delighted to have his name associated with an organization he believed in so deeply."
The Arthur W. Perdue Foundation, the charitable arm of Perdue Farms, was established in 1957 by Perdue Farms founder Arthur W. Purdue, and is funded through the estates of Arthur W. Perdue and Frank Perdue.
