Grocery corporation The Kroger Co., in response to an October 7 U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) public health alert raising concerns of illness caused by strains of Salmonella Heidelberg associated with raw chicken products from three Foster Farms production facilities, has removed those products from selected stores. Stores involved include Fred Meyer, Fry's, King Soopers/City Market, Ralphs, Food 4 Less (West Coast), Smith's in southern Nevada and New Mexico, and QFC stores and warehouses.
Kroger, Dillons and Jay C division stores, which are all part of The Kroger Co., are not included in the removal.
The company is also initiating its customer notification system that alerts customers through register receipt tape messages and phone calls.
Customers have been advised to check their refrigerators and freezers for the referenced product. Any opened or unopened Foster Farms products with the USDA mark of inspection numbers P6137, P6137A or P7632 can be returned to stores for a full refund.
