Atria-Chick Oy, Finland, receives first Ross shipment
Atria-Chick Oy, a subsidiary of Atria Plc, received its first shipment of Ross parent stock day-old chicks from Sweden at the beginning of September.
The investment projects in Sweden have made it possible to start deliveries of parent stock to customers in Finland. The contract producers of Atria-Chick Oy have grown Ross broilers for years and they have been satisfied with the good health and growth results stating that Ross birds perform extremely well in Finnish conditions.
Field manager Vincent Klutse, who was receiving the chicks on the farm, welcomes the cooperation at Scandinavian level: “Conditions in Sweden are comparable and good working relations with Swedes, Danes, Norwegians and Icelanders add value while we try to develop our production and better understand the needs of the bird.”
The transportation of the chicks was successful and chicks were placed quickly into the house by professional staff on the farm. Fresh water and feed were waiting for the new arrivals.
Planning is crucial for the company. Director Harri Rosenberg from Atria-Chick Oy believes that Aviagen SweChick can fill a growing need of parent stock animals in terms of quality and volume stating that: “the co-operation with Aviagen has started very well.”
Commenting on the co-operation, Thomas Carlson, general manager of Aviagen SweChick said: “We at Aviagen SweChick will do our best in order to be a reliable and a long-term partner with Atria-Chick Oy.”
Atria Plc has developed its broiler meat production extensively over the last few years. Atria Plc is a growing and international Finnish food company and one of the leading food companies in the Nordic countries, Russia and the Baltic region.
