Slovenia’s Perutnina Ptuj considers sale
Slovenian poultry and meat producer Perutnina Ptuj is considering a sale that could value the company as high as EUR140 million (US$181.44 million), according to sources. The company comprises of 18 companies in countries across Europe, including Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, and Bosnia.
Perutnina Ptuj’s key product categories include chicken, turkey, table eggs, feed sales, pork and beef, but 90 percent of its sales are in poultry and poultry products such as chicken sausages. Its annual revenue is estimated at EUR270.7 million (US$347.9 million), according to the WATT Global Media Top Companies Database.
Brands of Perutnina Ptuj include Naturally Fit, Poli and Jata.
Perutnina Ptuj has hired BNP Paribas as an advisor to help it explore strategic options, two sources told Reuters. However those sources, as well as spokesmen for Perutnina Ptuj and BNP Paribas declined further comment regarding arrangements between the two companies.
Larger European meat companies, which include France's Societe LDC or Sweden's Scandi Standard, have been identified as possible bidders interested in the purchase of Perutnina Ptuj.
Perutnina Ptuj might expect an enterprise value of about 120 million to 140 million euros, one of the anonymous sources said, based on a multiple of six or seven times its operating earnings.
