1. Welcome reception. Join attendees and exhibitors at the welcome reception on Tuesday, January 26, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the world's largest aquarium, the Georgia Aquarium. There is no charge to attend this networking event. However, due to space limitations, you must pick up a sticker at the reception kiosk in the B-Building lobby to attend.
2. The show floor. The 2016 IPPE will feature more than 1,200 exhibitors, 410,000 net square feet of exhibit space, and 28,000 attendees from more than 100 countries. In addition to showcasing the newest technologies, the show floor will hold several fun events including poultry, beef and pork cutting and cooking demos; the 4th annual chili cook-off; and a hot dog toss. 3. Environmental Conference for the Meat and Poultry Industry. Learn how industry leaders are dealing with key environmental issues through the sharing of best practices and gain practical information to help your business from expert speakers at this pre-show educational event, held on Monday, January 25, and Tuesday, January 26. 4. Challenges and Opportunities in Meat Product Traceability. This educational session on Tuesday, January 26, will take a look at global meat traceability, in-plant traceability and the technologies available to help processors track products and improve efficiencies.
5. Animal Agriculture Sustainability Summit. This long-standing program will provide viewpoints from industry and agricultural experts on sustainability and why it matters to the animal agricultural industry, as well as how to communicate sustainability efforts to consumers, suppliers and industry stakeholders. Held on Tuesday, January 26, it is free to attendees.
6. Technology XChange. Technology XChange presentations are designed to provide exhibiting companies and their customers with an additional opportunity for dialogue and discussion about specific, individual topics. Presentations take place on the show floor during show hours.
7. Veterinary Feed Directive: What you need to know! The presentation on Tuesday, January 26, will detail the changes made to the VFD rule in spring of 2014 and describe the challenges going forward, including what to do with old animal drug premixes after the full policy goes into effect in January 2017. Richard Sellers, AFIA senior vice president of legislative and regulatory affairs, will present and moderate a panel of experts, including poultry, swine and beef specialists and an official.
8. Regulatory Update: What’s ahead for 2016 and Understanding Salmonella. Hear about the top regulatory issues affecting meat processors in 2015 and what challenges are ahead for 2016. In addition, this session on Wednesday, January 27, will take an in-depth look at Salmonella in the meat industry, and its effect on in-plants practices, regulations and public health.
9. Media Training for the Meat and Poultry Industry. Does your job demand that you be on standby to talk to media in a crisis? Understand message development and interview techniques and then put those tactics into action in this session on Wednesday, January 27. Professional media experts will critique on-camera performances to polish your skills and advance your message. Register on the IPPE website.
10. The Global Food Safety Initiative: Planning for Success. This session on Thursday, January 28, will cover the top mistakes — and how to avoid them — in achieving or continuing certification from Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) recognized certification schemes. This session will also cover the latest changes to be aware of for two of the most popular schemes, BRC and SQF.
