U.K. regional poultry producer T Soanes and Sons is increasing its growing capacity by 17 percent through the construction of two new broiler farms.
The company currently rears approximately 5 million birds annually, supplying butchers and independent retailers locally, and wholesalers throughout the U.K.
General manager Nigel Upson commented: “We are committed to supplying our customers all the chicken they want. The new farms will give additional capacity and will help to consolidate our position as Yorkshire’s premier poultry supplier.”
The company has invested in excess of GBP 200,000 (US$307,000) in factory improvements over the past two years, and a further GBP60,000 is scheduled for this year.
It notes that the new farms will not only give it greater flexibility in bird selection, but will be more efficient than the company’s current farms and will have smaller carbon footprints.
