Argentina is still seeing strong demand for soy from China, in spite of
China's economic slowdown, according to reports — a situation not likely to change,
said Argentine Agriculture Minister Norberto Yauhar.
"Over the years ahead, the market will continue to be driven by China," said Yauhar. "We have a very good trading system with China. They will keep importing Argentine soy and derivatives." Argentina is expecting a 2011–2012 soy crop of 44 million metric tons, after a December 2011–January 2012 dry spell ruined original expectations of a 53 million metric ton harvest.
