Cesar de Anda has been elected president of the International Egg Commission.

Mexican businessman Cesar de Anda was elected as president of the International Egg Commission September 26 at the commission's annual Marketing and Production Conference in Cape Town, South Africa. He competed against Benn Dellaert, director of the Poultry Product Board, of the Netherlands and Tim Lambert, CEO of Egg Farmers of Canada for the presidency.
De Anda, who until now had been vice president of the organization, is president of the company Grupo Inova Alimentos, which produces egg products based Tepatitlán, Jalisco. De Anda has also held several important positions at the National Poultry Producers Assocation (UNA) in Mexico, such as the presidency in 1999-2005.
According to a press release, "This election marks a milestone in the egg industry, because in the nearly 50-year life of the IEC, is the first time someone who is not English or German speaking holds the presidency."
It is noteworthy, de Anda added, that Mexico is the fifth largest egg producer in the world, ranking first in per capita consumption, with an egg per person per day, a fact that many have called the "Mexican miracle."
