Rosselkhoznadzor, Russia's federal service for veterinary and phytosanitary surveillance, rejected 40 tons of frozen chicken meat and minced meat exported from the Netherlands, after finding two consignments in violation of veterinary law. The violations were detected at the border checkpoint at the Kaliningrad oblast.
The examination of the meat products carried out by Rosselkhoznadzor revealed a discrepance between the name of the slaughter house indicated on the pallet sheet and the name of the slaughter house indicated on the veterinary certificate.
Both consignments were returned with a non-manipulation declaration.
According to Rosselkhoznadzor, enhanced laboratory control has been imposed four times on products from the plant in question since 2009, due to detection of banned and harmful substances, including oxycycline, tetracycline, Salmonella and Listeria. Temporary restrictions have been imposed on the import of poultry, beef and pork from the Netherlands since March 2013.
