S&R Egg Farm barn destroyed by fire

A barn operated by S&R Egg Farm was destroyed by a fire on January 31. None of the other 14 barns on the site near La Grange, Wis. were harmed and no workers or firefighters were injured.
The egg barn fire was reported around 7:45 p.m. on January 31. As many as 150 to 200 firefighters from at least five counties helped battle the S&R Egg Farm fire. The fire was extinguished by the following morning, but firefighters returned to the scene on February 2 to wet down embers that remained, according to news reports.
S&R Egg Farm stated on its website that all other barns remain in full production, and operations at the company offices and facilities where the eggs are processed and packaged were not disrupted.
A third-generation, family-owned business founded in 1958, S&R Egg Farm plans to rebuild its lost barn with no disruption of service to its customer base during the rebuilding process.
"S&R Egg Farm would like to thank and acknowledge the efforts of all the fire departments deployed and appreciates those sending compassionate regards," the company stated.
