Rose Acre Farms has broken ground on the construction of an egg production complex in Red River County, Texas, according to one county commissioner. The complex will include 14 layer houses.
Red River County Precinct 1 Commissioner Donnie Gentry told fellow commissioners at an October 14 meeting that Rode Acre Farms had started construction during the first week of October, reported The Clarksville Times.
Red River County Judge Morris Harville said bringing Rose Acre Farms to the county had been a five-year effort. He said the company would bring jobs, people, increase the tax base and bring growth to the county. Rose Acre Farms owns 400 acres of land in the Red River County.
The expansion project will help the second-largest egg producer in the United States to grow. According to the WATT Global Media Top Companies Database, Rose Acre Farms specializes in table eggs and egg products, and has about 24.6 million laying hens.
The company began in the 1930s as a family-owned business, when it built and operated two hen houses and sold the eggs to local produce markets, gradually expanding to commercial grocery sales. Presently, Rose Acre Farms owns 17 facilities in six states throughout the Midwest and Southeastern United States, according to the company’s website.
