All Perdue Simply Smart products are now USDA process verified for being made from chickens raised with no antibiotics ever, the company announced on October 15. The no-antibiotics-ever products will begin appearing in the frozen food section of stores in October and November.
“Consumers for Perdue Simply Smart frozen, fully cooked chicken appreciate that all of our products are made with simple, recognizable ingredients with none of the things they don’t want, such as ingredients they can’t pronounce,” said Perdue Farms Chairman Jim Perdue. “Being able to assure them that the chicken used in Perdue Simply Smart products is raised without antibiotics follows that same ‘keep it simple’ philosophy that has made these items so popular with consumers.”
The “No Antibiotics Ever” assurance is on all Perdue Simply Smart packages, along with the new “Raised cage-free in the U.S.” process verified claim. As with all Perdue products, the Perdue Simply Smart line is also USDA process verified for chickens raised on an all-vegetarian diet with no animal byproducts. The USDA process verified programs give consumers the added confidence that Perdue’s claims are backed by documented programs that are regularly audited by the USDA.
“Consumers are increasingly interested in how their food is raised and where it comes from, and our USDA process verified programs help us answer those questions,” said Perdue. “All chickens used in Perdue Simply Smart products are from chickens raised cage-free on farms in the U.S., never given any antibiotics and fed an all-vegetarian diet with no animal by-products.”
All Perdue products are from chickens that never receive antibiotics for growth promotion, or human-use antibiotics in the feed, but the Perdue Simply Smart products go the extra step of assuring that the chickens used in those products were raised with no antibiotics ever.
