ChilePork, a pork producers association, held a product seminar at Shanghai, the company's first appearance in China after changing its logo.
The seminar focused on food safety and livestock health. Luis Schmidt Montes, ambassador of Chile to China and Juan Ovalle, president of ChilePork presented at the seminar. They discussed the development of ChilePork its strategic outlook on future cooperation between China and Chile in pork sector.
Currently, 60 to 65 percent of Chilean pork is sold to Chinese meat processing. In 2012, China's pork import from Chile doubled from last year. China has become the fourth largest export market of Chilean pork, absorbing 6 percent of its total export. Chile is the eighth largest pork supplier country of China.
