Oxford University Press (OUP) has formed a partnership with the Poultry Science Association (PSA) to exclusively publish their two journals, Poultry Science and The Journal of Applied Poultry Research. The agreement was announced November 13.
First self-published in 1921, Poultry Science is an internationally renowned monthly journal, known as the authoritative source for a broad range of poultry information and high-caliber research. The Journal of Applied Poultry Research is a quarterly journal that provides practical, reliable, and timely information to those whose livelihood is derived from the commercial production of poultry.
These journals play a pivotal role in the dissemination of preeminent poultry-related knowledge across all disciplines, making Poultry Science and Journal of Applied Poultry Research indispensable resources for any library or scholar of poultry science.
Alison Denby, editorial director of OUP USA, commented "Oxford University Press is extremely enthusiastic about partnering with the Poultry Science Association for the publication of their esteemed journals, Poultry Science and The Journal of Applied Poultry Research. Poultry Science continues to be the number one poultry journal in the field and we are excited to increase the dissemination of both titles to a global audience to help further their influence in the years ahead. The Journals are invaluable resources to educators, scientists, and producers who are committed to advancing the poultry industry and we look forward to a close and productive partnership."
Poultry Science features original research papers, symposium papers, and reviews of science as applied to poultry. Based upon Impact Factor, Poultry Science is the highest ranked journal dedicated to publishing poultry research. Journal of Applied Poultry Research encourages scientific approaches to practical problem solving through the publishing of research reports, field reports, and reviews. Subject areas for both journals include, but are not limited to: metabolism and nutrition, physiology, immunology, genetics, health and well-being, microbiology, food safety, welfare, environment, processing and production. These prestigious journals will join Oxford Journals' strong collection of life science journals.
"This publishing partnership with OUP ensures that PSA is well positioned to carry out its core mission of 'discovery, dissemination and application' of poultry-related scientific knowledge. Application of this knowledge is ultimately dependent upon its availability, and OUP has the expertise and capabilities to ensure that it reaches a global audience of all who might value such knowledge," said Stephen Koenig, executive director of PSA.
OUP will distribute Poultry science and Journal of Applied Poultry Research beginning in 2014.
