UK ventilation supplier celebrates 50 years in agricultural business

Hydor, a UK supplier of fans, ventilation, and heating equipment and control panels, is celebrating 50 years of supplying to the British agricultural markets and beyond.
Established in 1963, Hydor began supplying fans for poultry applications originally from their Southampton, UK, base, moving to Downton, UK, in 1970 from where it still operates. Hydor says it is proud of its reputation as a British manufacturer achieved over half a century.
Continued growth saw the company establish its presence beyond the UK in the agricultural markets of South Africa, Australia, Italy and the Middle East. With the further development of its range of high-efficiency fans, the company moved into industrial ventilation. In the mid 1980s, Hydor says the "Turbulator" fan range enhanced its presence in the horticultural, livestock and industrial markets. In 2003, Hydor was acquired by Elta Group.
Duncan Burl, managing director of Hydor, said: "We are delighted to have achieved 50 years in business. We have come a long way since those early days and although we now operate through representatives worldwide, we still see ourselves first and foremost as a UK manufacturer serving our home market. Reaching this point is a testament to the success of an approach which recognizes the importance of working closely with customers to understand their specific requirements and develop solutions accordingly.  But we will not be resting on our laurels.  50 years is quite a milestone but we will continue to evolve and to build the business, researching and developing new products and investigating new opportunities to hopefully ensure we are around to celebrate another 50!"
