Eight European Union countries have reported falls in their pig herds between December 2010 and December 2011, according to reports.
Poland, The Netherlands, Romania, Czech Republic, Finland, Lithuania, Slovenia and Malta, according to the British Pig Executive, have all reported drops in their numbers. Reports also say, however, that Germany, Denmark and Italy reported marginal increases, while several other EU states, including the United Kingdom, had yet to report their December 2011 census results.
