Ukraine could increase its poultry production by 5.8 percent to 1.06 million metric tons in 2012, contributing to a 5.3 percent overall increase in the country’s meat production, according to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy of Ukraine.
Domestic demand for poultry is also projected to go up, by 3.2 percent to 1.06 million metric tons, even as imports are expected to fall by 4.8 percent to 60,000 metric tons. Exports may rise by 24 percent, to 62,000 metric tons, according to the ministry. In 2011, Ukraine imported 63,000 metric tons of poultry and exported 50,000 metric tons.
