Vietnam, which has been working on an avian influenza vaccine since 2005, has announced plans to begin clinical trials later in 2012, according to reports.
The country's priorities are to stop the spread of the bird flu epidemic, protect citizens' health and reduce poultry losses, according to Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Duc Phat. The National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology is currently testing the effectiveness of an advanced experimental version of the vaccine. It will send the results of the clinical trials to the ministry of public health.
