The first and second phases of testing the Vietnam experimental H5N1 vaccine on human volunteers have been successful, according to researchers at Vaccine and Biological Production Company No. 1.
All volunteers injected with the vaccine, Fluvax, reported suffering only minor side effects which went away within 24 hours. The trial version has met all criteria the World Health Organization lists for developing the human vaccine, which Vietnam researchers began studying in 2005. Producing the vaccine domestically, according to the country, will make Vietnam more active in preventing the virus from spreading.
