The Chinese egg industry produced 28.61 million tons of eggs in 2012, up from 20 million tons in 1998, and now accounts for almost 40 percent of the eggs produced globally.
According to Companies and Markets, 80 percent of egg production in the country is concentrated in 10 of China's 34 provincial divisions.
Egg products made of the majority of Chinese egg exports last year and were worth US$167 million, an increase of 1.7 percent on the year before.
Egg production is expected to increase by 2 percent per annum through to 2017.
