Projections for U.S. turkey exports and broiler exports during 2013 were raised in July, according the USDA's World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates report, released on July 11. Broiler exports for 2013 were estimated at 7.46 billion pounds in the July World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates report, up from the 7.36 billion pound projection issued in the June report. Turkey exports for 2013 were forecast for 733 million pounds in the July report, up from the 713 million pounds projected in June.
The forecasts for broiler exports and turkey exports for 2014 both remained unchanged from the June estimates. Broiler exports were projected at 7.77 billion pounds, while turkey exports were forecast at 840 million pounds for 2014.
The World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates report also showed total U.S. turkey production and supply for 2013 were lowered by in July. Both estimates were lowered by 40 million pounds in July, when compared to the June World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates report. The latest estimates listed the supply at 6.16 billion pounds, down from the 6.2 billion pounds projected in June. The July report showed U.S. production at 5.84 billion pounds, a drop from the 5.88 billion pound estimate from June.
