A break in a city sewer line in Dillon, S.C., caused Perdue Farms to temporarily shut down its operation in Dillon on July 7 before resuming poultry processing on July 8, a Perdue Farms spokeswoman said.
A problem developed with the sewer line on July 3, but the Perdue plant was closed due to the 4th of July holiday, news sources reported. Crews were fixing the line when another problem with it developed on the morning of July 7.
Perdue officials found it best to temporarily shut down until city crews could fix the line.
