The Philippines government has banned poultry imports from Utrecht, the Netherlands, due to
an outbreak of low pathogenic avian influenza (H7N7).
The virus was detected in free-range laying hens on
August 9, according to reports. Philippine quarantine officers will confiscate
all shipments of poultry and poultry products, except for heat-treated products,
coming into the country. Any importer bringing heat-treated products into the
country must be able to provide documentation detailing the
temperature and duration of heating or pasteurization of the poultry products
and ensure that raw materials do not commingle with any other materials of
animal origin.
Philippines remains free of bird flu.
